IT'S FEELS LIKE SUMMER BUT.....

It has been hot the last few days and the Hill Spirit has been beating the heat with the Pitchfork's wonderful shave ice and burning through those frequent customer reward cards that they give out.
However, it looks like the hot weather will last a few more days and then start to cool back off about next Tuesday or Wednesday.  The maps look like it will stay cooler at least until the middle of September. Map from weatherbell.com












CROCKPOT APPLE BUTTER

3 qts peeled chopped fine apples, or 12 cups of applesauce
5 cups sugar (white or brown sugar) 

2 Tbs cinnamon    
1Tbs cloves
 

Put into crockpot & cook with lid off on high after starts cooking for 3 to 4 hours. Then turn to low setting & let cook over night until it gets as thick as you want the applebutter to be.
Put into pint jars & cold pack* for 1⁄2 hour after the water begins to boil.
* Cold Pack is using a canner filled with boiling water & the filled jars with canning lids for a specified amount time with the results that as they cool they will be sealed.
