Limestone County cross-country teams kicked off the season last week with the fourth-annual Athens-Limestone Area Cross Country meet in downtown Elkmont.
The top two finishers were from Elkmont High School. Tyler Helms took top honors with a time of 19:06. Adam McMahan followed with a time of 19:28.
The West Limestone High School boys won first in the varsity 3-mile meet, followed by Athens Bible School and East Limestone High School. The East Wildcats had two runners place in the top 5, with Jacob Martin finishing fourth overall with a time of 20:03. Teammate Jordan Romine was fifth with a time of 20:20.East Limestone’s Frederick Stephens was third with a time of 19:53.
In the varsity girls’ meet, Athens Bible took first place with strong performances from Ashley Riggins and Becca Harwell. Riggins took second with a time of 25:20, followed by Harwell in third with a time of 28:02. Clements’ Allison Jay took top honors with a time of 22:26
Elkmont’s Jensen Pugh was fourth with a time of 28:40, while teammate Stephanie Clem was fifth with a time of 29:13.
