Several local cross-country teams and individuals qualified for the state meet over the weekend with a goal to bring home a championship Saturday.
The top three teams advance to the state meet. In Class 3A, both Elkmont teams qualified with third-place finishes.
Tyler Helms was the first Red Devil runner to cross the finish line on the boys side, with a third place individual finish at 18:14. Teammate Adam McMahan followed at fourth at 18:33. Chance Bailey was 25th at 20:31.
Stephanie Clem paced the Lady Red Devils with a 17th place finish at 23:48. Jensen Pugh was 19th at 23:58, followed by Hannah Hanback at 24:13
