GEORGE HARRISON COOK - OBITUARY

— A memorial service for George Harrison Cook, 74, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home with Steve Williams officiating.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital

George Cook was born Sept. 18, 1936, in Limestone County. He was a U.S. Navy and Marine Corps veteran. He was the former owner of Cooks Travel Agency in Athens and Huntsville for 30 years. He was also an employee at Greenbrier Restaurant.

Mr. Cook was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Cook and Ethel Deemer Cook; wife, Shirley Cook; brothers, James Cook, Earl Cook and Otis Cook; sisters, Margaret Williams and Mary Frances Edelbrock.

Survivors include son,
Scott Cook and wife Christie of Elkmont; brother, Billy Cook of Elkmont; sisters, Betty Burnett of Las Vegas, Judy Humphries of Clarksville, Tenn., and Nancy Mader of Magnolia Springs; two grandchildren, Jackson Cook and Anna Grace Cook; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Adelia Howell of Huntsville.
