John Joseph Wales, 93 of Elkmont, Alabama died on Thursday, October
12, 2017, at Limestone Health Facility in Athens, Alabama. Born
Sunday, December 23, 1923 in Elkmont, Alabama, he was the son of the
late Lester Cleveland Wales and the late Katie Inez Hodges Wales. He was
a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He loved his family, his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and especially loved to get out
and visit. He watched over and loved the entire community. He was
preceded in death by his parents,
his wife: Betty Sue Hargrove Wales, brothers: Cecil Wales, Alton Wales
and Wayne Wales, and sisters: Sadie Rochelle, and Naomi Hodges.
Surviving are his son, Terry (Carol Gwen) Wales of Elkmont, AL, sister, Hazel Johnson of Birmingham, AL, grandchildren: Kerri (Reece) Langley of Alexandria, VA, and Bethany (John) Schumacher of Athens, AL, and grandchildren: Samuel Langley, Katie Schumacher, and Ruthie Schumacher.
Funeral services were at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home. Brother Mitch McCormick and Brother Alan Hughes officiated. Burial was in Sylone Cemetery, Elkmont, AL.
