Closet Clean-Out
Each spring and fall, do CPR on your closet: Categorize, Purge, and Rearrange. Carefully consider each item. If it doesn't make you feel wonderful or look fabulous, it's a no. Put it in the "to donate" box, and put that box in your car.
Declutter and Donate
Keep a donation hamper in your closet. Every two weeks select an item of clothing you haven't worn in the past six months and throw it in. When the hamper is full, take it to a local charitable organization.

Save Your Linen Closet
Is your linen closet overflowing? Pare down your stock to three towels and washcloths per persons, two sets of sheets per bed, plus a set of each for guests. Source:  Better Homes and Gardens

DOOLEY MOVING TO SOUTHERN ALABAMA

Keith Dooley has served as the Encore athletic trainer at Elkmont High School for 2 years.  A valued member of football team, he is the "go to" guy whenever an injury occurs.  Taking the time to know the players has allowed him to be able to tell when an injury has occurred.  By observing how a player holds an arm slightly different, favoring a leg or just not playing like normal, Dooley often knows when an injury has occurred before anyone else knows.  The players trust him and Keith has become a respected friend of many.

He will be leaving the Elkmont High School community next week and Monday will be his last day with the team.  He will join the Faith Academy,  Mobile Alabama, athletic program as their Encore trainer.  Leaving Elkmont was not something Dooley had planned but this transfer was the best choice for him and his new bride, Jackie Swan.  Job opportunities for Jackie in the tri-county area were slim while she has a job in the Mobile area.  It was easier for Keith to transfer to an Encore school located close to Mobile rather than Jackie to move to an uncertain job market.  An added perk is that he is much closer to sand and surf.

Dooley had this to say about his experiences at Elkmont High School.

"I want to express my thanks to Elkmont High School, the football staff and especially the players for making me feel part of the team, not just a trainer sent by Encore.  I am close to the seniors.  I have worked with them a number of years and have come to call them friends.  I was apprehensive when I first came to Elkmont.  I had always worked at the college level and didn't know how I would be able to relate to a high school team.  My first day, Cole Glass walked up to me and talked to me like he had known me for years.  I felt right at ease with my new team and these seniors hold a special place in my heart.  They have always welcomed me and made me part of their lives.  I want them to know that once you are a Dooley kid, always a Dooley kid.  I will always do anything I can to help them as they go through life.  I leave knowing that I have friends here and I will continue to follow the team.  The Elkmont football blog will allow me to watch their games and know how their season is going.  I wish them the best of luck this season and in their future endeavors."

                                                                                        

JAMES P. HALL - UNIVERSITY OF MONTEVALLO HONOR

James P. Hall, of Elkmont, was recently recognized as a recipient of Sophomore Highest Honors at the University of Montevallo Honors Day. Highest honors are accorded to full-time undergraduate students who have completed at least 12 semester hours at the University of Montevallo and whose cumulative University of Montevallo grade point average is 3.80 or better.

ANN ROCHELL - OBITUARY

The funeral for Anne W. Rochell, 53, of Elkmont, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pettusville Cemetery with Ron Oakley officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rochell died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital.

She was born Dec. 27, 1957, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Gerald Bruce Waggoner and Janet Sue Elliott Waggoner. She was a member of Pettusville Methodist Church.

Mrs. Rochell is survived by her husband, Bobby Rochell of Elkmont; daughter, Katherine Rae Rochell; son, Samuel James Rochell; her parents; brothers, Dean Waggoner and wife Kathy and Paul Waggoner and wife Cathy.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Davis, Wesley Rochell, Tim Rochell, John Waggoner, Michael Waggoner and Phillip Richardson.

This is for All medications),  Prescriptions and /or Over the Counter). JOHN CHAMBERS - OBITUARY

ATHENS — A memorial service for John Murphy Chambers, 38, of Athens will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Spry Funeral Home with Charles Maples officiating.

He died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at home.

Mr. Chambers was born Nov. 17, 1972, in Limestone County. He was a retired concrete finisher. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Hazel Green.

Survivors include his wife, Kristy Chambers of Athens; father, Johnny Chambers of Elkmont; mother, Ruthie Chambers of Elkmont; mother-in-law, Joyce Gaines of Athens; son, Jonathan Chambers of Athens; sisters, Amy Carter and Mandy Wall, both of Elkmont; brother-in-law, Joe Kelley of Athens; sister-in-law, Cathy Kelley of Athens; nieces and nephews.

WHAT HAPPENED AT THE QUARTERBACK CLUB MEETING MONDAY

The Quarterback Club/football team made a lot of progress on the stadium but there is still things to do before the first game vs Ardmore.  This Saturday, August 13 @ 8 am will be "Paint the Stadium" Day.

The concession stand also still needs work as well on Saturday.  Equipment needs to be cleaned and checked.  Supplies also need to stocked.  The football program needs more parents to get involved.  Don't expect someone else to do it because if everyone thinks that someone will then nobody does it.  Please come this Saturday to help out.  Wear your painting clothes.

The concession stand is getting a new deep fryer and hot dog roller cooker.  The day of the water boiled hot dog is gone.  An outdoor grill for hamburgers is also on the buy list.

Reserved Seats are being renewed at a fast pace.  Be sure to contact Heather Hobbs soon to renew your seats or buy new ones  Remember reserved seats must be renewed by August 27 or will be released to those on the waiting list.  Link:  GET YOUR RESERVED SEATS

Lots of fun for the Ardmore game being developed by the Spirit Committee.  Contact Crystal Newsom to work on the Spirit Committee.  The Hill Spirits have done a terrific job in last several years creating excitement.  The more you are involved the more exciting Elkmont Football is.

Sharon Wilson is heading up this committee.  The shirts this year will have the new Elkmont Red Devil Logo.  Order forms will be posted soon.  Should have forms available Saturday for you at the "Paint the Stadium" day.  

QUARTERBACK CLUB MEETING - MONDAY @ 6 PM

August 8 will be the next Elkmont Quarterback Meeting - This will be the season kickoff meeting.
If you are interested in the Elkmont Football Program, especially if you have a player, it is very important that you become involved in the Quarterback Club.
