CATHERINE "CATHY" SUSAN MORRIS - OBITUARY
A graveside service for Catherine “Cathy” Susan Morris, 52, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lentzville Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Morris died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at her residence. She was born April 28, 1959, in Limestone County. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Amos “Bud” Moss.
She is survived by her mother, Mildred Moss Vanderford of Athens; daughter, Stephanie Morris Hargrove of Athens; stepdaughter, Tonya Morris Killmeyer of Huntsville; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Campbell, Brilee Campbell, Hayden Hargrove, Haley Rochelle, Karly Rochelle and Katy Killmeyer; sisters, Frances Moss of Athens, Theresa Moss of Killen and Laura Barnett of Athens; brothers, Jack Lawrence of Texas and Joe Moss of Elkmont; nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Wynell Stewart, of Athens.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Campbell, Dillon Peck, Jerry Neal Gulley, B.J. Moss, Jody Moss, and Brandon Middlebrooks.

Mrs. Stanford died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at home. She was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Limestone County to Arsey and Ida Turner. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edd Stanford; her son, Joe Stanford; brothers, James, Guy, Albert, Lee and Lewis Turner.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Beddingfield and husband Stanley of Montgomery; brothers, Harry Turner of Athens and Robert Turner of Elkmont; sisters, Marty Guthrie, Mildred Turner and Lura Turner, all of Elkmont; grandchildren. ACCUWEATHER WINTER FORECAST
"The Long-Range Team expects areas from northeastern Texas and Oklahoma into Kentucky and Tennessee to deal with more ice than snow events this winter, especially from early to mid-season.
Occasionally, icing could affect areas farther east into the western Carolinas and northern parts of Alabama and Georgia, especially in January.
The team also expects a significant risk for severe weather and flood events to develop over the lower Mississippi Valley in February. Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee, which were devastated by tornadoes in the spring, will be extremely sensitive to any severe weather outbreaks.
As for temperatures, winter 2011-2012 is forecast to average out milder than last winter across the Southeast, especially for locations from Florida into southern Georgia and eastern South Carolina. However, there could be a period of cold weather in this region from mid-December into early January with an early frost or freeze.
Starting in late January, milder-than-normal conditions are expected to be more dominant.
Precipitation is forecast to average out below normal from Florida into parts of the Carolinas. A drier-than-normal winter could exacerbate the extreme drought that is gripping central and southern Georgia and parts of South Carolina.
Areas from the western Carolinas into northern parts of Georgia and Alabama will turn out wetter, according to Pastelok."

James Michael Bridges - Obituary
James Michael Bridges, 51 of Athens, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital. Visitation for Mr. Bridges will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. with Gina Williamson, Principal Chief United Cherokee Ani-Yun-Wiy A Nation.
James Michael Bridges was born July 23, 1960, in Limestone County, to James Pleas Bridges and Eva Woodard Bridges. Mr. Bridges was an instructor at Calhoun Community College. He was a Scout Master and a member of the Elkmont Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Bridges; sons, James Logan Bridges, Beau Landon Bridges and Michael Lucas Bridges; and sister, Jacqueline Marie Bridges.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association and/or the American Diabetes Association.

Janice Jenkins Colvett age 65 of Elkmont, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2011 at Huntsville Hospital. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. The service will be Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel.
Burial will be in Legg Cemetery with Bro. Mitch McCormick officiating. She was born on August 8, 1946 in Limestone County to Woodrow Jenkins and Willodean Chittam Jenkins Fielding.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, R.L. Colvett; her daughter, Cindy Wales and husband Bradley; three grandchildren, Chelsey Wales Ham and husband Josh, Callie and Chloe Wales; two sisters, Faye Hogue and Charlotte Adams; and several nieces and nephews.
She worked for the Limestone County School System for 39 years as an instructional assistant.
Pallbearers are Bobby Colvett, Benny Colvett, Tony Sirten, Billy Adams, Larry Chittam and Roger Leopard.
Janice Colvett — a Limestone County teacher assistant who used a walking stick named Buddy — will be remembered as the ice cream lady with a good sense of humor.
The 65-year-old Elkmont resident died of a heart ailment Monday at Huntsville Hospital after falling ill at West Limestone High School in the morning, said Principal Charlotte Craig. She worked as an instructional aide for Limestone County schools for 39 years.
Students at West were remembering her Tuesday by wearing black, pausing for a moment of silence and sharing their memories of her.
“She loved coming to work,” Craig said. “She would get upset when people asked when she was going to retire. She would say, ‘I’m not going to retire; I’m going to die here.’”
Craig described Colvett as “an outstanding lady who will be dearly missed.”
“She had a great personality,” she said. “She was a cutup who enjoyed a good laugh.”
The principal recalled how Colvett used a walking stick on occasion that she affectionately named Buddy. Many children at the kindergarten through 12th-grade school knew Colvett as “Miss Break.”
“A lot of the elementary kids called her Miss Break because she sold ice cream during their break,” Craig said.
Colvett was also very active with school fundraisers, making copies and helping teachers in any way she could, the principal said.
On Monday morning, Colvett reported she was not feeling well and had gone to the nurse’s station. Her close friends — nurse Gina Carter and technical specialist Pat Kelley — were there with her before the ambulance arrived, Craig said. She was taken to Athens-Limestone Hospital and flown by MedFlight helicopter to Huntsville Hospital, where she died.
The funeral for Colvett will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, R.L. Colvett; her daughter, Cindy Wales, who teaches at Elkmont High School; three grandchildren; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Morris Brewer, 52, of Elkmont died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
