BOO AT THE BOSS - OCTOBER 29

The annual Boo at the Boss will start Tuesday, October 29 at 6 pm. The fun will be at Boss Hill Stadium.  Hope to see you all there!!  If you would like to donate candy for the "Boo", please send it to the school office or the football fieldhouse.

 BOO AT THE BOSS 

Ghouls and Goblins will be out in full force in search of candy and goodies at Boss Hill Stadium October 29. 

They won’t be catching a football game, nor will they be begging their parents for extra cash for the concession stand. Instead, they’ll be interacting with members of the Elkmont football and volleyball teams, as well as coaches, cheerleaders and band members during the annual Boo at the Boss.The Elkmont Police Department will also be part of the fun.
 
Starting at the end zone closest to the field house, the athletes and other participating groups will line the field every 10 yards to hand out candy and pose for pictures.

EXTREME Birdhouse Contest

Junior/Intermediate - Limestone County

Fifth and sixth grade students were challenged to construct the absolutely COOLEST birdhouse possible.

The Rules:
Don't use a kit or a birdhouse that is already built.
It can't be any larger than 18 inches x 18 inches x 18 inches.
Provide a list of supplies and tools you used to create your birdhouse.
Create something original. Do all the work yourself

JACOB BRADLEY DUGGER - OBITUARY

The funeral service for Mr. Jacob Bradley Dugger, age 30 of Trinity, will be Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Tony Collins officiating. 

The visitation will be Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 6 – 9 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Dugger died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his residence, where he resided with his father and mother, Ronnie and Libby Dugger. He was born May 12, 1983 in Morgan County. He was a member of Cornerstone Church.

Survivors include his parents, Ronnie and Libby Dugger of Trinity, AL and Karen and Allan Davis of Elkmont, AL; siblings, Mark Brown and wife Melissa of Trinity, AL, Caleb Brown of Trinity, AL, and Landon Odom in the Marine Corp; God brother and sister, Dalton and Alex Hall of Trinity, AL; grandparents, Bud Dugger of Athens, Al, Bill and Eloise Sheffield of Decatur, AL, and Helen Vickers of Tuscumbia, AL; one niece, McKellen Brown of Trinity, AL; God niece, Brooklyn Brewer of Trinity, AL; best friends, Big Mama, Robert Shumate, Heather Wilson; aunts and uncles, Bobby Dugger, and wife Debbie, Reginia Obarr and husband Jerry, Debra Crain and husband Mike of Town Creek, AL, Nancy Cottrill and husband Jim of Tuscumbia, AL, Tony House of Decatur, AL, and Ken Hodge and wife Linda of Elkmont, AL; he also had many beloved cousins.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Dugger, Jerry Obarr, Kevin Terry, Gary Hall, James Houser, Eddie Owens, Mason Miller, and Mike Crain. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Shumate, Matt Clem, Marcus King, Michael Cox, Jamie Houser, Dalton Hall, and Jay Farley.

ELKMONT HARVEST FESTIVAL

Everyone had a wonderful time at the Elkmont Harvest Festival; lots of fun and giggles.

ELKMONT MIDGETS HOBBLE COLTS

In a 26-14 victory over the Clements Colts, the Elkmont Midgets football team continued their balanced play with four players reaching the end zone.  Blake Brown, Brody Eckstein, and Isaiah Sutherland all scored rushing touchdowns.  Watching the Midget special teams is always a treat, with Jedidiah Sutherland having a long return  and Masin Morris adding Elkmont's fourth TD on a kickoff return.  

Elkmont's special teams also recovered a fumble when a ball ricocheted off a Clements player's back into the hands of kicker Josh Burrows.  The defense continued its solid play, with Blake Brown and Paul Gooch making key tackles.  The Red Devils take a three game winning streak into next weekend's 2:00 pm match-up against the West Limestone Wildcats.  The winner of next week's Elkmont-West Limestone game secures a spot in the county play-offs.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS - ELKMONT VS LAUDERDALE COUNTY

The Red Devils will be traveling to Rogersville to play the Tigers.  The Tigers are a bigger, stronger version of the Deshler team that Elkmont played last Friday.  Most of Lauderdale's offense is centered around the run.  The formula to getting a win is the same as last week.  If Elkmont can stop the run and keep their turnovers down, they may be able to keep the game close enough to give the Red Devils a chance at an upset.  Kickoff will be at 7 pm under a clear, cold evening sky.

The skinny: Elkmont gets the award for being the underdog that keeps hanging around. Despite the losing record, Elkmont could finish tied for third or fourth place in the region. Unfortunately for the Red Devils, tiebreakers will keep them out of the playoffs.

ELKMONT POLICE NEWS

 

*WHATS NEW IN ELKMONT!!! STARTING MONDAY OCT 28TH ELKMONT POLICE DEPT HAS A NEW POLICE OFFICER RESERVE. OFFICER PAUL LOVING WILL BEGIN HIS DUTIES AS A "CERTIFIED" OFFICER AND WILL BE PATROLING THE SCHOOL ZONES AND OTHER AREAS IN NEED OF SPEED AWARENESS. DRIVE SLOW ...BE CAREFUL. 

 For those who don't know what a certified officer is; Hill Spirit didn't so I asked - a certified officer has completed the law enforcement academy as all officers/depuites must do. He has full arresting power as any law officer has in Alabama. He doesn't have to have a full time officer riding with him.  


Officer Paul will be working Elkmont at any time he is working for the Sheriff Department or just has spare time on his hands and wants to patrol. He is retired army pilot and move into the area few years ago. he is a reserve officer for the Limestone Sheriff's Department and one of its pilots. He is a great guy and want to help out in out our community. 
  The Sheriff’s Reserve program involves individuals from our community, that unselfishly give of their personal time, money, and resources, to support this administration. These individuals volunteer countless hours to partner with deputies on patrol, work community activities such as parades, ballgame security, the annual Sheriff’s Rodeo, and travel with a full time deputy performing prison transports and extraditions. The supplemented manpower results in a benefit to the taxpayers of Limestone County equivalent to thousands of dollars.

BOO AT THE BOSS WILL BE NEXT WEEK AT BOSS HILL STADIUM, TUESDAY 29TH AT 6:PM.   BRING THE KIDS. ELKMONT PD WILL BE THERE ALSO GIVING CANDY AND BAGS.  

Come meet Officer Paul Loving, Tuesday at Boo at the Boss. He will be giving out trick or treat bags this year to our kindergarten and first grade students this year, something the Elkmont police department has done for many years.  He will be giving out candy at Boo at the Boss.  Be sure to introduce yourself.
