TIMOTHY MAXCELL BROCK - OBITUARY

Timothy Maxcell Brock, 59 of Elkmont, Alabama died on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. Born Sunday, October 14, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Tullys Brock and Roberta Kowalski Brock. He loved riding a Harley and spending time with his family and listening to music.
 
Surviving are his wife: Bonnie Cannon Brock of Elkmont, AL, son, Justin & Nicky Brock of Meridianville, AL, daughter, Jamie & Jammie Thomison of Fayetteville, TN, sisters, Gail & Mike DeCola of Mokena, IL, Tammy Brock of Hazel Green, AL and Cindy & Mark Webb of Hazel Green, AL, and 12 grandchildren.
 
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.

LOUISE HOGAN ROBINSON - OBITUARY

Louise Hogan Robinson, age 96, of Athens, AL, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015. Louise was born in Limestone County on October 17, 1919 to Hardy Franklin Hogan and Dovie Lillian Hastings.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Hardy and Dovie Hogan and her husband: Razzie B. Robinson.

Services will be Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bob Watson and Jimmy Romine officiating. Visitation will be Friday, December 4, 2015 from 6:00PM-9:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Louise is survived by her son: Bobby Robinson (Sue) of Trinity, AL, daughters: Martha Morrow of Athens, AL, Linda Nave of Athens, AL, Jane Romine (Jimmy) of Goodsprings, AL and Joan Vining (Toney) of Athens, AL. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, fifty- one great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren, brother: Mack Hogan (Evelyn) of Elkmont, AL, and several nieces and nephews.

Louise was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ.

RED DEVILS ARE ANGELS TOO

 
Learning how to help and serve others is one of the most important things we can do as journey through this life. Coach Dennis Black and his varsity boys basketball team are doing their part.  They were out and about this week selecting angel hugs for some blessed little Elkmont angels.

The Elkmont Angel Tree still has a few angels who need to be adopted. You can pick up your angel at the Dollar General in Elkmont.

ATHENS CHRISTMAS PARADE

Lots of us Elkmont folk go to the Athens Christmas Parade tonight.  Elkmont is always well represented in the parade.  This year our Miss Merry Christmas representative is Maggie Hobbs.  Look for her tonight and give her a big Elkmont shout when she passes by in her carriage.   

IF YOU GO TOMORROW...The Reliance Bank Christmas Parade is Thursday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. There are over 140 entries. Please be advised of the following traffic information provided by Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson:

The entrances to Athens High School will be closed to all but parade entrants after school lets out for the day (around 3 p.m.). The turn lanes used by school traffic for access to and from Hobbs Street will be closed at this time.

The Limestone County Commission Christmas Tree Lighting will be on The Square at 5 p.m., so expect increased traffic downtown prior to the parade.

The parade starts at 6 p.m. at Athens High, goes west on Hobbs Street, goes south on Jefferson Street and around The Square, and goes south on Jefferson Street to Hometown Grocery. 

However, some of the larger float entries 
will not be able to use Hometown because of school buses and marching bands. Athens Police will direct these south on Jefferson to U.S. 72 or east on Forrest Street (if the float can make it under the railroad overpass).

Since the Athens-Limestone Public Library parking lot will be blocked, Athens Police will close the Forrest Street at Marion Street intersection and the Forrest Street at Clinton Street intersection to accommodate parade entrants.

An average of 10,000 people come for the parade, so motorists should use caution and watch for pedestrians.

JOYCE WALES - OBITUARY

Joyce Wales, 88 of Madison, Alabama died on Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Valley View Nursing Home in Madison, Alabama. 

Born Friday, July 15, 1927 in Wichita Falls, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Shelton and the late Lizzie Eckstein Shelton. She was a lifelong resident of the Ardmore area and a member of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed flower gardening and her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband: Linzie Wales.

Surviving are son, Ray Wales of Elkmont, AL, daughter, Joan Haney of Elkmont, AL, brother, C H Shelton of Elkmont, AL, grandchildren: Kevin Haney, Jamie Haney, and Jason Wales, and great-grandchildren: Malorie Haney, Shelby Wales, and Sawyer Wales.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Bro. Buddy Payne, and Bro. Tommy Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.

MEET OUR MISS MERRY CHRISTMAS

Each year a young lady is selected from the senior class to be a Miss Merry Christmas representative from each high school in the county. This year's Elkmont Miss Merry Christmas is Maddie Hobbs.

Maddie is the daughter of Marcus and Sara Hobbs.  She is in the Beta Club and Spanish Club as well as a member of the varsity cheer squad.  

Maddie has been chosen for Senior Class Favorite, Senior Homecoming Attendant, Girls State Representative, and voted Best All Around for the Class of 2016. After high school, she plans to attend college and pursue a degree in elementary education. 

Our Miss Merry Christmas makes her first appearance in the Athens Christmas Parade, December 3 @ 6 pm.  You will have another chance to see her in the Elkmont  Christmas Parade, December 5, @ 1 pm.    Be sure to wave when she passes by.

GEORGE GILMER TRUITT - OBITUARY

Graveside service for
George Gilmer Truitt, age 67, of Decatur, will be Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Rev. Royce Teague officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Truitt, who died Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born Oct. 19, 1948, in Alexander City, Alabama to George and Louise Truitt.


He is survived by his wife, Debbie Truitt, of Decatur; one son, Jason Truitt (Kerry), of Elkmont; daughters, Lisa Truitt of Nashville, Tennessee and Amy Fulmer (Josh) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Braydon Truitt, William Truitt, and Isaac Fulmer; mother, Louise Truitt, of Alexander City; and brother, Donnie Truitt, of Wetumpka.

Pallbearers will be Randy Voss, Lynn Voss, Chris Schrimsher, Bobby Drane, Jackie Clifton, and R.V. Clifton.
