Elkmont company Electricfil receives state award

Elkmont-based Electricfil Corporation was recognized earlier this month at the 12th annual Manufacturer of the Year Awards luncheon in Montgomery.

Electricfil was presented May 9 with the inaugural Sustainability in Manufacturing Leadership Award.

The award is presented to a company that has participated in the Alabama E3 Program and is committed to reducing wastes, lowering energy intensity, and improving sustainability.

In 2009, the Alabama E3 Initiative – Economy, Energy, and Environment – was launched to help manufacturers in the state adapt and thrive in a new business era focused on sustainability.

The Alabama E3 Initiative has assisted more than 30 manufacturers in the state. Electricfil produces electronic sensors and engine seals and employs about 70 people. Electricfil was also a finalist in the Small Manufacturer Category.

The Alabama Technology Network and the Business Council of Alabama’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards are an annual recognition of Alabama manufacturers that exhibit excellence in leadership, performance, profitability and work force relations.

“Each one of this year’s awards recipients is an excellent example of the commitment, leadership, and skills needed to support our state’s manufacturing base. I am proud that ATN could once again join BCA in recognizing the contributions manufacturers make to our state,” said Dr. Mike Bailey, president of the Alabama Technology Network, in a press release.Electricfil Corp., an automotive supplier located in Elkmont, has received the inaugural Sustainability in Manufacturing Leadership Award for Alabama.
