WEST MORGAN REBELS FLANK JV RED DEVILS - DARE DEVIL AT THE GAME

GAME SUMMARY:
The Red Devils opened the game by kicking off to West Morgan. The defense stepped up and stopped the Rebels on fourth down. Elkmont's opening drive started on the Rebels 45 yard line. The offense moved the ball well with Wales connecting with Tucker for a 20 yard pass and moving the ball on the ground as well. The Rebels defense came up big and forced the Red Devils to turn the ball over on downs. West Morgan took the ball over in their own territory and were moving the ball into Elkmont territory until Clark broke through the line and sacked the Rebels quaterback for a 10 yard loss. The next play Milan intercepted the Rebels' pass. The next couple of drives both offenses struggled to move the ball. End of 1st quarter 0 - 0.

The Red Devils had the ball to start the 2nd quarter. Bailey was sacked on consecutive plays which resulted with the ball being turned over on downs. Elkmont's defense went to work, stopping the Rebels on 4th down. The Red Devils running game seemed to come alive with a 25 yard run by Tucker and a 15 yard run by Ferrazes; Elkmont had the ball in Rebel territory. With a couple of incomplete passes and a run for no gain, the Red Devils turned the ball over on downs. The Rebels offense drove the ball down to Elkmont's 18 yard line with 1:10 to go before the half. West Morgan made it to the endzone on a 1 yard run with :39 to go before the half. The PAT was good. The Red Devil offense turned the ball over on downs their next couple of series. End of 3rd quarter - West Morgan 14, Elkmont 0.

The fourth quarter started with Tucker taking the handoff and going for 30 yards. This drive ended with the ball going over on downs. Elkmont stopped the Rebels on fourth down to get the ball back. Elkmont's next series resulted in a fumble and West Morgan recovering. The Rebels went on in to score with a 35 yard screen pass. West Morgan now leads 21-0. Elkmont got the ball back with a couple of minutes left to play. Wales hit Milan with a 20 yard pass and was flushed out of the pocket three times and gained yards of 10,15 and 20 to set up a 1 yard touchdown run by Lovell.  Sanchez's PAT good. Final score West Morgan 21 Elkmont 7.

OBSERVATIONS:

The defense played well the whole game stopping the Rebels on several fourth down plays. Take back a couple of big plays and the Devils are in the game. The offense couldn't seem to put together a consistent drive although they had a couple of 20 plus yard pass completions and several long runs. The offensive line did not allow the quarterback enough time to get the passes off and had several runs that did not reach the line of scrimmage or was stopped for a loss. We had trouble at times holding on to the ball resulting in several lost fumbles. There seemed to be a lot of confusion at times with blocking assignments and receiver routes but this will get better with time. This is a talented group of guys and I look for a lot of good things to happen in the future. Keep on working hard, men and stay focused.
