YOU HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN YOUR EMERGENCY KIT, HAVE YOU?

TornadoToday we are going to add lots of little, but important items.


1. Whistles. One per family member. Consider developing a family whistle pattern that can be recognized when you become separated. think morse code as an example. A unique whistle pattern will help you to recognize each other and as you keep blowing you will be lead to each other.


2. Moist towelettes. You will need 15 just for washing hands after meals for 5 days so plan accordingly.


3.  Large heavy duty garbage bags. These don't weigh anything and they don't take up much room so add several, they are perfect for lots of applications.


4. Small note pad and pencil.


5. Diversions such as crossword puzzles, books, travel games, coloring books, whatever is appropriate for each individual family member.


6. Phone numbers: Include the following in your list of important numbers: Spouse, Doctor, Dentist, Optometrist, Hospital, Police Station, Fire Station, Parents, Clergy, Neighbors, Siblings, Poison Control, Insurance agent(s), Local Contact person, Out of State contact, Phone tree, Child’s school(s), Children’s friends (any place they may be playing when an emergency strikes).
