Obituary:
Jesse Price “Shep” Evans, Jr., age 85 of Elkmont, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013. Mr. Evans was born November 17, 1927, in Limestone County to Jesse Price Evans, Sr., and Cludia Mae Stepp Evans.
Services will be Saturday, June 22, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Timothy McDowell officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Leggtown Cemetery.
Mr. Evans was a member of Elkmont United Methodist Church. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, and retired from Army Missile Command in Huntsville. He was a member of the American Legion Post 49 and VFW post 4762, and Elkmont High School Booster Club and a longtime Basketball official.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Claudia Evans; brothers, Thomas Price Evans and Joseph Tyler Evans.
Survived by his wife, Barbara Morris Evans of Elkmont; three sons, Jesse Price Evans III and wife Dawn of Birmingham, AL, Clayton Webb Evans and wife, Deborah of Elkmont and Boyd Haney Evans of Ardmore; four grandchildren, Jesse Price Evans IV, Martin Whitfield Evans, Clayton Maxwell Evans and wife, Katie all of Birmingham, AL and Bonnie Baker Evans and fiancé Joe Pierce of Auburn, AL; great-grandchild Caden James Evans of Birmingham, AL; sister, Ruth Evans Wright of St. Simons Island, GA; brother, James Nowlin Evans and wife, Eve of Charleston, SC; nephew, Don Wright and wife, Joy of St. Simons Island, GA; niece, Susan Evans of Elkmont; sister-in-law, Betty Evans of Elkmont.
Pallbearers will be George Sandlin, Price Evans, Martin Evans, Max Evans, David Jones, Bert Bradford, Hunter Wright and Glen Davenport. Honorary pallbearers will be Dickey Hobbs, Gary Compton, Tommy Carter, Don Wright, Jerry Bradford, Charles Morris, Joe Morris and Greg Willingham.
In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the Elkmont United Methodist Church Building Fund.
