LOOK FOR OUR MISS MERRY CHRISTMAS IN THE ATHENS PARADE

Each year a young lady is selected to be a representative from each high school in the county.   This year Jensen Pugh is Elkmont High School's Miss Merry Christmas.  She is on the bottom left in red.

Jensen is the daughter of Barry and Leigh Pugh. Jensen is a member of the Principal’s Advisory Board and Senior BETA Club.  She also served as the 2012 Youth Representative for the Athens City Chamber of Commerce.  Jensen has been a member of the EHS Cheerleading Squad for 5 years, and she is serving as Captain this year.  Jensen is also a member of the Cross Country and Track teams, where she has lettered in both JV and Varsity.  Jensen was chosen as the 2013 Girls State Representative for Elkmont High School.  She is a volunteer for the Elkmont Lions Club, and she attends Westview Church of Christ.  In the fall, Jensen plans to attend college to pursue a degree in nursing.

In addition to going to lots of events, they ride in the Reliance Annual Christmas Parade in Athens.  The 10th annual Reliance Bank Christmas Parade has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. this Thursday, Dec. 12. It will start at Athens High School on U.S. 31. Float lineup begins at 3:15. The theme is “A Storybook Christmas.” The parade goes west along Hobbs Street, winds around the courthouse, travels down Jefferson Street and ends at Hometown Grocery.
