SLEEP LATE TOMORROW IF YOU GO TO SCHOOL


Due to the possibility of winter weather, Limestone County Schools will be delayed two hours tomorrow.

* ACCUMULATIONS...UP TO A TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE...WITH A LIGHT DUSTING OF SNOW POSSIBLE BEFORE PRECIPITATION ENDS.

* IMPACTS...AREA ROADWAYS...ESPECIALLY ELEVATED AREAS SUCH AS BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES...WILL LIKELY BECOME SLICK DUE TO THE FREEZING RAIN. EVEN JUST A GLAZE OF ICE ACCUMULATING ON ROADS COULD CREATE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from midnight until 9 a.m. Tuesday morning for most of North Alabama and southern middle Tennessee (including Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, and Jackson Counties in AL and Lincoln, Franklin, and Moore Counties in TN). 

Another round of rain will transition to a mix of cold rain and freezing rain overnight as temperatures fall to around freezing. This could cause a light glazing of ice and some slicks spots on bridges and overpasses early Tuesday morning. Some light snow showers could also mix in around daybreak. The precipitation will come to an end by mid morning.

Colbert County Schools: Opening at10:00 AM
Florence City Schools: Delayed 2 hours
Lauderdale County Schools: Opening at10:00 AM
Lawrence County Schools: Delayed 2 hours
Limestone County Schools: Delayed 2 hours
Russellville City Schools: Opening at10:00 AM; Buses 2hrs late
Sheffield City Schools: Opening at10:00 AM
Tuscumbia City Schools: Opening at10:00 AM
