BELLE CHEVRE NEWS

A goat cheese maker, a utility construction engineer and a local library supporter received the top awards Wednesday at the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards luncheon. Tasia Malakasis, Jim Lannom and Millie Caudle were honored during the event at First United Methodist Church’s Beasley Center.

Malakasis, owner of Belle Chevre creamery in Elkmont, was named 2015 Businessperson of the Year for her company’s success as it celebrates its 25th anniversary.  She purchased Belle Chevre in 2007.  “She was a major part of the rejuvenation of Elkmont,”  Teresa Todd, president of the Limestone County Tourism Association, said. “She’s played a major role in agri-tourism in Limestone County.”
