ELKMONT SOCCER MAKES PLAYOFFS IN FIRST SEASON

Soccer has been gaining popularity in the United States.  This spring, it was added to Elkmont's list of high school varsity sports.  With a roster of seventeen players, the Kicking Red Devils had only two seniors and one junior for the inaugural season. Elkmont was fortunate to have a strong core of experienced players who understood the game and provided leadership to this young team.

The Red Devils had a regular season record of 3-9-1. With each game they improved and finished on a high note by defeating Mars Hill at Mars Hill, 2-1 Elkmont had 2 key wins against Ardmore, which allowed them to finish second behind West Limestone in the area.  As runner-up in the area, they were matched up against East Limestone in the first round of the playoffs.  The Red Devils played hard and well, but came up short, losing 7-0.

COACH HINTON'S THOUGHTS:
We had a successful launch of our program this year and the boys set a foundation for years to come.  They worked really hard and competed each  game.  We had a young, inexperienced team this year, but they grew up fast and improved each time they stepped on the field.  I am really proud of how they acted and represented Elkmont on and off the field this year.
