So far, 5 people have qualified to run for either mayor or city council seats in Elkmont. To be on the ballot, interested people must file their statement of candidacy papers with the Limestone County Probate Office to make them official candidates . Those names will appear on municipal election ballots, August 23. Candidates still have until July 19 to qualify to run.
Those currently qualified are:
Mayor - Tracy Compton (incumbent)
Council 1 - Jessie H. Hobbs III (incumbent)
Council 2 - Ronald R. Christ Jr. (incumbent)
Council 3 - Mary Bernice Lockett (incumbent)
Council 4 - Thomas H. "Jack" Gilbert (incumbent)
