ELKMONT FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS THERE

The Elkmont and Owens Fire Departments were at Sleepy Hollow Road (just off Hwy 127) yesterday in response to a trailer/house fire. The Elkmont trucks pulled out around 3 pm.  When they got to the  scene, they were faced with a  fully involved (on fire) structure.  Since there were no water hydrants close by, the West Limestone Department was paged for water support.  After various calls when out, about 20 firefighters from Elkmont, Owens, West and Piney Fire Departments fought the fire, got it contained and saved the one trailer next to it.  The Elkmont volunteers cleared the scene about 9 pm and got the trucks back in service for the next call before they called it a night.
