NATIONAL WEATHER STATEMENT FOR ELKMONT

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 PM CST THIS EVENING FOR LOW HUMIDITY FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FRIDAY AFTERNOON FOR LOW HUMIDITY FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HUNTSVILLE HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 PM CST THIS EVENING. THE FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS THEN IN EFFECT FOR FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

* TIMING...THE WARNING IS FOR NOON TO 6 PM TODAY...WITH A WATCH FROM NOON TO 6 PM FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...VALUES WILL BE REDUCED TO LESS THAN 25 PERCENT FOR PARTS OF BOTH AFTERNOONS...WITH VALUES AS LOW AS 15 PERCENT THIS AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS...ANY FIRES THAT DEVELOP WILL LIKELY SPREAD RAPIDLY. OUTDOOR BURNING IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL SHORTLY. LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY OVER A PROLONGED PERIOD WILL INCREASE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.
A FIRE WEATHER WATCH MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE FORECAST TO OCCUR. LISTEN FOR LATER FORECASTS AND POSSIBLE RED FLAG WARNINGS FOR FRIDAY.
