The Dust Devil stopped in and watched a Red Devil basketball practice this week. Garth Garris' squad has a chance to be very good this year. They are experienced with four seniors who have been key players on the varsity the last two years.
It looks like Cole Glass at center, Daniel Logan at power forward, Skyler Gant at small forward, Hayden Huseth at second guard and Andrew LaBath at point guard. Bryant Wales and Matthew Barnes will most likely be the first two players off the bench.The strengths of the team will be experience, outside shooting, team speed and excellent defense. The weaknesses will be lack of team size, lack of depth, and inability to score in half court sets.
Prediction:
It will take a few games to shake off the rust from football but by the time Area play comes around, Elkmont will be playing well. The Dust Devil predicts an Area Championship for this team. Their season starts this Friday at New Hope.
