JAMES RICHARD DISON - OBITUARY


James Richard Dison, age 80 of Elkmont, Alabama passed away on Thursday, October27, 2016 at his home. Mr. Dison was born on May 23, 1936 to Hershel and Dovie Harbin Dison in Elkmont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Herman Dison, and a son, Danny Ray Dison, a granddaughter, Jessica Nixon, and an infant great-grandson.

Mr. Dison is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Dison; daughters, Mary Etta Crosby, Martha Jean Wright and husband Jimmy, Patricia Darlene Craig,
Ginger Lynn Dison, and Mary Jane Wiley and husband Jeff; sons, Bobby Ray Dison and wife Debbie, George Wayne Dison, and James Wesley Dison; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; one brother, George Junior Dison; sisters, Sue Newton, and Cindy Gordon, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Services for Mr. Dison will be held Monday, October 31, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Wendell White and George Junior Dison officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 PM on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Limestone Chapel. Burial will be in Cross Key Cemetery.

Pallbearers are grandson, Jason Dement, Aaron Craig, Wesley Craig, Joey Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Coy Dison, and honorary pallbearer BJ Jarrett.

Mr. Dison loved to buy, sell, and trade all kinds of interesting things. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and especially loved running beagle dogs.

SENIOR NIGHT - CROSS COUNTRY


At Elkmont High School, we recognize our Seniors who have been involved in the football season (the football players, cheerleaders, band) and cross country.  This special event is called Senior Night and happens during the last home football game.  This year's seniors were recognized on October 14. Wishing them the best life has to offer.


Brianna Barnett is the daughter of Derrick and Jennie Barnett. She is a member of both the cross-country and track teams.  She is a member of FFA and Skills USA. Brianna attends the Limestone County Career Technical Center and is earning her credentials in Cosmetology.  She plans to earn her state license in Cosmetology upon graduation. After graduation, Brianna plans to open a pet grooming business.




Chance Bailey is the son of Kevin and Missy Bailey.  Chance is a member of the cross-country, basketball and track teams.  In the 2015 season, Chance was selected as a member of the Decatur Daily All Area Cross Country Team and recognized on the 4A All-State Cross Country Team. As a Junior in basketball, Chance was selected to the All-Area Team. Last year at eh Disney ESPN Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Florida. Chance finished in the top ten in his division. Chance was chosen as the 2016 Boys State Representative for Elkmont High School. He was elected senior class favorite. Chance is an active member of the Holland's Gin Church of Christ. After graduation, Chance plans to attend college on a competitive running scholarship while pursuing a degree.



Luke Little is the son of Mark Little and Misty Logston.  Luke has been a member of the cross country team for two years and the track team for five. He attends the Limestone County Career Technical Center and is earning his credentials in HVAC. He is a member of the Student Advisory Council at Tech School. After graduation, Luke plans to attend Faulkner University to obtain a degree in ministry.



Noah Sharp is the sond of Chris and Dee Sharp.  Noah is a member of the cross-county, basketball and track teams. He played football for three years. On campus, Noah is a member of the Senior Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and FCA. He serves on the First National Bank Student Advisory Board. Noah is a member of the Elkmont United Methodist Church and serves as the youth advisor on the Church Council.  After graduation, Noah plans to attend UAH to pursue a degree in nursing.



Tiyler Walts is the son of James and Peggie Walts. Tiyler has been a member of the cross country team for four years.  He is also a member of the track and basketball teams. After graduation, Tiyler plans to attend college but is undecided on a career at this time.

FIRST QUARTER "A" HONOR ROLL - MIDDLE SCHOOL

October is almost gone and the kids will be looking forward to Thanksgiving break. Where did the time go?  First quarter is over and these hard working students have made the first quarter "A " Honor Roll at Elkmont Middle School. Look for the High School honor roll tomorrow.

ELKMONT'S YOUNG ARTISTS SHINE

Elkmont School's art program under the guidance of Breanna Johnston has developed some talented artists.  Some of them had the opportunity to display their work during the "meet and greet" event with Alabama House Speaker Mac McCutcheon on October 24.  Their artwork will also be displayed for the American Education Week Expo on November 14th at the Athens Event Center.

FRANK HUBER III - OBITUARY

Frank Huber III, age 68 of Elkmont, Alabama passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Huber was born on June 10, 1948 in Athens, Alabama to Frank and Irene Huber, Jr.

Preceded in death by his parents, Frank Huber, Jr. and Irene Emmaline Bowling Huber, and his sister Rebecca Jansen.

He is survived by his wife Estella Jean Delaney Huber; son, Frank “Chip” Huber IV and wife Jessica of Keller, TX; daughter, Darcy Jean Huber of Duluth, GA; grandchildren, Harley
Huber, and Frank “Cash” Huber V; sisters, Carol York of Knoxville, TN, Polly A. Huber of Knoxville, TN; nephew, Bruce “BJ” Jansen of Elkmont, AL and niece, Cammie York of Knoxville, TN.

Services for Mr. Huber will be Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 3:30 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Steve Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:15 on Sunday. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Steven Ferguson, Joseph Dowd, Steve Bates, Joe Bates, Ryan Pylant, and Drew Stanford. Honorary pallbearer is Preston Pylant.

Mr. Huber was a member and song leader of Elkmont Church of Christ and a former Elder and teacher. He was retired from the Limestone County Commission as the Sewer System Manager.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude in Memphis and mission work at Elkmont Church of Christ.

 Hope Hice is the daughter of Gretta Edwards and Terry Hice.  Hope has been a cheerleader for five years.  She is an active member of FCCLA, FCA, Spanish Club, Mu Alpha Theta and Senior Beta Club.  She does volunteer work in the community and is an active member of her church all while holding a job at Rue 21.  After graduation, Hope plans to earn a degree in psychology and later attend medical school.


Olivia Spencer is the daughter of Jay and Lovena Spencer. She is very active in Senior Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, FCCLA and FCA. She is also involved in TRAIL, PHISH, and a member of the Sheriff's Youth Advisory Council.  She volunteers at the Spirit of Athens events.  Olivia plays an important role in the Children's Ministry and Youth Program at the First Church of God in Madison.  She plans to attend the University of South Alabama to pursue a degree in Biology.

Madison Scroggins is the daughter of Joey and Necole Scroggins. She has been a cheerleader for six years. Madison is very active in Senior Beta Club, LEO Club and HOSA.  She attends the Limestone County Career Tech Center where she is a health science student.  She plans to attend Calhoun Community College and pursue a degree in nursing.


Leah Seibert is the daughter of Kay and Wade Loggins. She has been a cheerleader for six years and is a member of the varsity softball team.  Leah is very active in Senior Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and serves as a FFA Student Advisor. She is a member of the Elkmont Church of Christ where she is very active in planning and participating in youth activities.  Leash plans to attend the University of North Alabama and major in Biology and Pre-Pharmancy.


Chloe Murphy is the daughter of Frankie and Tina Murphy.  Chloe is a member of the Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, FCCLA, Spanish Club and FCA.  She is the FFA Secretary and was elected Senior Class Treasurer.  Chloe is a member of the Hilltop Yearbook staff and the Limestone County Sheriff's Advisory Board.  Chloe has been a cheerleader for six years and member of the softball team. She was chosen as the 2016 Girls State Representative for Elkmont High School and was a Senior Homecoming Representative.  Chloe attends New Oakland Independent Baptist Church.  After graduation, Chloe plans to attend college and major in elementary education.
