GREAT WEEK FOR ELKMONT - DUST DEVIL IN THE GYM

On Monday, the Red Devils won a barn burner at home against Ardmore.  The score was 78-70 in double overtime.  The game was everything you would expect of a Elkmont-Ardmore game and more.  Cole Glass got in very early foul trouble and had to sit out most of the first half.  Ardmore took advantage of Glass's absence and Elkmont's cold shooting and led by five at halftime.  

In the second half, Ardmore's hot three point shooting helped them to continue to extend the lead.  With two minutes left in the third quarter, Ardmore led by fourteen points and it looked like Elkmont would not be able to come back.  Then it happened, the big play Elkmont needed to change the momentum.  Cole Glass stole a pass and took it all the way for a two hand monster slam dunk.  Elkmont immediately made another basket to cut the lead to ten and then Daniel Logan hit a 35 foot shot at the third quarter buzzer to cut the lead to seven.  The crowd went wild and the Red Devils roared back and took the lead.  Ardmore made a shot at the final buzzer to send the game into overtime.  Elkmont needed a Cole Glass last second shot to send the game into double overtime.  Finally, Elkmont pulled the win out 78-70 in double overtime.  Daniel Logan led Elkmont with 26 points and 10 rebounds.  Cole Glass had 20 points and 9 rebounds.  Hayden Huseth added 15 points.

On Friday, Elkmont opened the Area 15 tournament with a an easy 59-39 win over Danville.  Elkmont took control early and never looked back.  The bench played most the of the fourth quarter.  Hayden Huseth led Elkmont with 18 points.  Cole Glass had 13 points and 8 rebounds.

OBSERVATIONS:
Two big wins this week makes Elkmont's record, 19-9.  This sets up a real battle on Monday in the Area Tournament Championship game against West Morgan.  These two teams have played twice.  Each game was hard fought and the score was close.   The Dust Devils expects another one on Monday night.  The keys for Elkmont are rebounding, outside shooting and staying out of foul trouble.

The Dust Devil predicts a close, physical game that Elkmont wins by four points.
