TERRI LYNNE SIMMONS - OBITUARY
In Memory of
Terri Lynne Simmons
September 17, 1967 - September 18, 2014
Terri Lynne Simmons, 47 of Elkmont, AL, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 from inflammatory breast cancer. Terri was born in Ocala, FL to Jerald and Carolyn Simmons. She earned a BA in psychology from Athens State College and completed a Master of Counseling at the University of North Alabama. She became a licensed professional counselor and worked with patients in Tuscaloosa. She was also an accomplished amateur photographer and mixed-media artist and enjoyed concerts, gardening, and exploring new places. Terri was a beautiful woman whose battle with breast cancer scarred her, but also ignited within her a passion to defeat the disease.
Terri was preceded in death by her father, Jerald Simmons, uncles Bruce Simmons and Roger Ziegler, and her grandparents. She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Simmons, and son Thomas McDougle, both of Elkmont, AL; her sister, Lori Simmons Diehl, and spouse John and their children, Julian and Zoe Diehl of Houston, TX; Terrell and Kathy Simmons of Maryville, TN; Judy and Traci Ziegler of Athens, AL; Roger and Willa Simmons of Ocala, FL; Janie and Wayne Ziegler of Mulberry, FL; Keith and Nancy Simmons of Hope, AR; Teresa and Monte Schulte, Bill and Jeanette Steffek, Billy Roberts, Leland and Cheri Roberts, Diane and Jim Schoolcraft, and Bruce and Judy Roberts, all of Ocala, FL; and numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society . Terri requested that there be no funeral service. She wished to be remembered instead with laughter and love.
