ELKMONT AT ELEMENTARY SCHOLAR BOWL

Limestone County Schools held their yearly fourth and fifth grade Scholars' Bowl competition at Blue Springs Elementary on Wednesday, March 4.  West High School placed 3rd, Creekside Elementary placed 2nd, and a big shout out to Piney Chapel for becoming the Limestone County champions.

Even though Elkmont did not place, there were two individuals that need to be recognized. Meredith Christ and Kaitlyn Burroughs were Elkmont's top team scorers when they competed against other teams' top scorers. Meredith Christ pulled out, along with two others, a win for top scorer for Limestone County.

" My team has practiced really hard for this day and I am so proud of each and everyone of them," said Coach Mrs. Holt.

SCHOLAR BOWL AT WALLACE STATE

We have so many athlete events from football to golf; each team has a full schedule with lots of games to report.  However, we have another team that doesn't get as much attention but always represents Elkmont well, the high school scholar bowl team.  This year's team of high achievers is:
Linda Schmidt - Coach
Michael Farris - Team Captain
Johnathon Brown, Rachel Hammond, Hannah Hanback, Christina Stacy, Ben Ferguson, Cole Cook, Mia Farris, Lauren Simpson.

They traveled to Wallace State for the small school competition, January 16.  The teams were divided into pool play with the winner of each pool competing in the championship round.  Elkmont went undefeated in their pool as they outscored Danville, Bellgreen, Deshler, East Lawrence and Tanner.  In the championship round,  Good Hope took the championship with Elkmont bringing home the silver as the runnerup.

Our scholars will be competing in the large school competition in Huntsville before taking on the county teams in the Limestone County Scholar Bowl Tournament in February.
