A SNOW DAY?

How disappointing? School is on time and operating today.  Woke up hoping to see white but only soggy ground was outside my window.  Something might happen later this morning but not anything really exciting.

This storm continues the trend of wintry weather across the South. The region has seen its share of frozen precipitation from ice to snow this week. While Mississippi and Alabama will be spared the brunt of this storm, locations in the southern Appalachians can be buried under a foot or more of snow!

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS EVENING...
* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...A RAIN AND SNOW MIX IS EXPECTED THIS MORNING BETWEEN 6 AM AND 8 AM FOR NORTHWEST ALABAMA BEFORE TURNING TO ALL SNOW BY 10 AM. NORTH CENTRAL ALABAMA WILL HAVE A RAIN AND SNOW MIX BETWEEN 8 AM AND 10 AM BEFORE TURNING TO ALL SNOW BY 11 AM.
* ACCUMULATIONS...1 TO 2 INCHES.
* OTHER HAZARDS...RESIDUAL WATER FROM MELTING SNOW MAY PRODUCE SLICK SPOTS ON ROADS TONIGHT...ESPECIALLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.
* IMPACTS...WHILE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED MAINLY ON GRASSY SURFACES...SOME ACCUMULATIONS ON ELEVATED ROADS AND IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN COULD RESULT IN HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING. MOTORISTS SHOULD PLAN THEIR TRAVELS ACCORDINGLY AND BE PREPARED TO ENCOUNTER ISOLATED SLIPPERY SPOTS ON ELEVATED BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.
