Born Thursday, January 20, 1927 in Elkmont, Alabama, he was the son of the late Jessie Hargrove and the late Farrie Turner Hargrove. He loved gardening, dancing, and traveling. He was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of First Baptist Church of Ardmore. He was preceded in death by a wife: Dorothy Dison Hargrove, sisters: Bessie Dison, Myrtle Thomas, brothers: Jake Hargrove, James Hargrove, Charles Hargrove, and Vernon Hargrove, and a step-son: David Widner. Surviving are his wife: Louise Widner Hargrove of Ardmore, TN, son, Derrick Hargrove of Georgia, step-sons: Ray (Kay) Widner of Ardmore, AL, and Ricky (Cindy) Widner of Ardmore, AL, daughters, Debbie (Michael) Brookshire of Athens, AL and Cathy (Gary) Hargrove of Ardmore, AL, brothers, Doug (Dorothy) Hargrove and W.D. (Maxine) Hargrove, both of Arkansas, 12 step grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Bro. Alan Hughes and Bro. Billy Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
