W.T. Underwood Jr., 85, of Elkmont died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at home.
Born Monday, Dec. 7, 1925, in Columbia, Tenn., he was the son of the late William Thomas Underwood Sr., and the late Edna Elizabeth McCord Underwood.
He was the owner of Underwood Lumber Company of Ardmore.
He was a member of Wooley Springs Baptist Church for 50 years where he was a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth Brannon.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jessie Hickman Underwood of Elkmont; sons, Jimmy Underwood and wife Loretta, and Billy Underwood and wife Kathy, all of Athens;
daughter, Jennifer Kobeck and husband David of Ardmore; brothers, Harry Underwood of Culleoka, Tenn., and Wayne Underwood of Lynnville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wooley Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Keenum, the Rev. Bill Chester, and the Rev. Tony Boyles officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amedisys Hospice, 5767 Cove Commons Drive, Suite A&B, Brownsboro, AL 35741, or to the Building Fund of Wooley Springs Baptist Church.
