RUNNING RED DEVILS STILL AT THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Have had a great time with these kids in Fort Morgan/Gulf Shores the past couple of days! They have worked hard to qualify for the state meet and have done EHS proud so far! 3 events to go today - 300m hurdles, 800m and 4x400 relay.

Yesterday's events....Chase Prater finished 5th in the 3200 meter tying his PR. Chance Bailey PR'd in the 3200 to finish 10th. Noah Sharp finished 14th overall in the 110 hurdles. The boys 4x8 finished 16th in a very tough 4A field. Tiyler Walts, Chance, Chase, and first time state competitor 8th grader Brantley Hammock did a great job. 300 hurdles, 800 meter, and the girls 4x4 left today!

Been a good 3 days! 4 teams here from Limestone county, East, West, Ardmore and us, all with great success. West has had two second place finishes and a third place along with our top 10 finishers in the mile and 2 mile so far. I think it is amazing that these athletes perform so well in running and field events with no track or field venues. No practice on the very playing fields they compete. The only track we see is in the meets we pay upwards of $200 to compete in. Imagine a football team practicing in fields with no yard lines or goal posts. Baseball fields with no bases or base lines. Basketball courts with makeshift nets and no foul line. This is what these kids undeservedly face and still have this measure of success. Just some food for thought! Have a good one!
