Mrs. Thornton was born June 6, 1943 in Limestone County to James A. Allison and Ruby C. Powers Allison. Services will be Saturday, April 21, 2012 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Demar Elam and Bill Irby officiating. Mrs. Thornton was a member of Hobbs Street Church of Christ and a longtime nurse. Preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruby Allison and one brother. Survived by her husband, Larry Thornton of Athens; two sons, Charles Rodney Thornton (Vicki ) and Bryan Craig Thornton (Kelli) both of Athens; seven grandchildren, Ryan Tucker (Dixie), Susan Thornton McCurry (Brian) both of Athens, Amber Thornton Roan of Decatur, Matthew Tucker of Savannah, GA., Kimberly Thornton Traywick (Matt) of Elkmont, Kyle Thornton and Kasey Thornton both of Athens; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Billy Allison, Robert Allison both of Iuka, MS. and Glenn Allison of Chicago, IL.; two sisters, Betty Rose of Huntsville and Ann Hill (Richard) of Melbourne, FL.; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ryan Tucker, Matt Tucker, Kyle Thornton, Jeremy Braman, Blake Hogan and Ben Hogan. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Camp Neyati in Guntersville, AL. |
