The Elkmont XC teams competed at the Jesse Owens Classic on Saturday, October 6. The morning started off with heavy rains and left the 3.1 mile course with water standing in areas and very muddy and slick hills! Despite that, several of our runners achieved new PR’s and season best times!

The day was filled with 15 races for the various divisions and included approximately 5500 runners from over 200 Middle and High Schools from Alabama and surrounding states!

The running Red Devils are midway through the season and we are seeing improvement from race to race. A few of our runners are battling minor injuries and Coach Pugh is working with them as they heal and prepare for the big end of season races. The next cross country meet is in Decatur at Point Mallard Park on Saturday, October 13. The girls are scheduled to run at 11:00 and the boys at 11:40. Why don’t you come on out to cheer on our Running Red Devils?!?!
