Nella Ree Ridgeway Slaton, 85, of Anderson passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012.Nella Ree was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Anderson. She was the daughter of Fletcher and Torri Townsel Ridgeway. She was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Goodsprings.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, R. Howard Slaton; three sisters, Ole Mae, Thelma and Jean; two brothers, Ronald and Ertus; and one grandson.
Survivors include sons, MH and wife Linda Robertson of Chas, S.C., and Mitchell and wife Carol Robertson of Lester; daughters, Mischa E. Long of Elkmont, Lisa D. Whitt of Anderson; one half sister, Carolyn Rose; and two half brothers, Dale and Wayne Ridgeway; four grandsons; four granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at McConnell Funeral Home in Athens. The Celebration of Life funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McConnell with Jessie Littrell and Alan Jaynes officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at Goodsprings.
