BUTTERFLIES, BUTTERFLIES ARE EVERYWHERE

Our ever creative second grade teachers have been caught bringing beauty into their science lessonsOn Monday, May 13 , the second grade classes at Elkmont celebrated the release of Painted Lady butterflies.  If you see this beautiful butterfly in Elkmont, many of them gained their wings in second grade.

After the Painted Lady butterflies were released, students participated in various relays on the band practice field.  A pizza lunch was enjoyed by students and parents.  After pizza the students were very busy visiting different craft stations which included painting 'butterfly' T-shirts.  Some parents provided shaved ice on the south pick up porch for a treat.

Second grade teachers would like to thank family members for their help in staffing the stations, providing the shaved ice, and cleaning up.  Thanks also to Coach Clem and Coach Pugh for the loan of PE equipment for relays.  It's great to be a second grader at Elkmont.
