ELKMONT SCHOOL LOVES OUR VETERANS

On Monday morning, November 9th, the Elkmont High School gymnasium was filled with students, teachers, parents, and community members, all donning red, white, and blue, to celebrate and honor Veterans of the United States Military. Local Veterans were recognized in the program that was organized solely by the FCCLA and FFA student organizations at Elkmont High School. 


This student-led program included performances by the 4th grade students and the Elkmont High School Band. 


Our featured special guest speaker was Lt. Col. Adrian Erckenbrack. He also spoke to many of our students on 9/11/15 about his firsthand experience at the Pentagon the day of the 9/11 attacks on America. 


His Veterans Day presentation depicted the process that our Veterans went through from joining the military, to training, active duty, deployment, and finally homecoming. EHS would like to thank Lt. Col. Erckenbrack for supporting our community and school by investing time into speaking with our students and sharing his knowledge.
 

The students involved in the planning and production of the Veterans Day Program include:

Sammantha Williams, Molly Snoddy, Melisha Snoddy, Christina Stacy, Koribeth Schmidt, Elizabeth Salgado, Mackenzie McCart, Griffin Bryant, Shainna Miller, Alyssa Smith, Kalei Barnes

 

FFA Members:
Adriel McMahan, Zeb Pankey, Chloe Murphy,
Leah Seibert, Tori Pressnell, Leigha Smith, Bailee Appleton, Ethan Shores,  Justin Williams, Cody Watkins

 

Additionally, Ms. Horton (FCCLA Faculty Sponsor) and Mr.Maples (FFA Faculty Sponsor) oversaw the planning and production of the program. Ms. Donahoo (Music Teacher) directed the 4th grade students who sang in the program, and Mr. McChristian (Band Director) led the EHS Band
in the playing of the National Anthem.
