WHAT CAN GERMS DO

It is difficult to get children to understand why washing their hands is important.  One of our fantastic first grade teachers at Elkmont is Alicia Bates.  Her class recently got the opportunity to learn about those little germs that are everywhere.
Mrs. Bates Science Corner:
A little experiment we did in my classroom. We were surprised at the results.

The control was only touched with a plastic glove on my hand. We think of gloves as clean but...

The "washed hands" bread looks good enough to eat.

The "not washed" was touched by all the kids after PE!! Yuck. See why washing your hands is important!!! I'm taking it down tomorrow because it's too gross to look at but the kids wanted to share it with their parents so I'm posting it on the the Elkmont blog.
