Born Sunday, January 14, 1945 in Elkmont, Alabama, he was the son of the late William Stanford and Louise Joyce Stanford. He was a lifelong resident of the Elkmont area and loved showing and riding horses. He also loved to tell jokes and travel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Michael Stanford, step-daughter: Donna Dunn, and sister: Joyce Lewter.
Surviving are special friend: Freda Stanford of Elkmont, AL, son, Marcus (Vanessa) Stanford of Elkmont, AL, stepdaughter: Bonnie McGennis of Trinity, AL, sister, Edith (Billy) Davis of Elkmont, AL, grandchildren: Alyssa Stanford, Dani & Matt Trible, and Chris & Argenia McGennis, and one great-grandchild: Colin Rhett Trible.
Funeral services were at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
The family received friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
