RUNNING RED DEVILS AT SCOTTSBORO INVITATIONAL

The Scottsboro Invitational 5K cross-country race was September 17 at the John R. Esslinger Trail.  Elkmont competed in the small school division (1A-4A).

The Lady Red Devils came in eighth place with Elkmont's Claudia Allen finished 10th with a time of 22:16.

Our boys team was missing one its top runners and wasn't able to finish among the top teams.

Alex Armstrong (#578) set a goal before the season started and today hit it big! Blew away his PR by 52 seconds running a 20:36 at the Scottsboro Invitational today! Next goal is 20:05 - and he WILL get it!

New PR (personal record) set today in XC by Noah Sharp. Gotta set a new goal for next week. The encouraging words and the congratulations offered between these runners are outstanding.
Keep up the great work EHS XC.

COACH'S CORNER
These times are a reflection of a lot of hard work by these kids. We were missing our lead boy runner due to an injury today, so team score may not reflect the effort, but these kids gave it their all.

A lot of these are 7th and 8th graders competing against varsity men and women! Very proud of their performances today.

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”

Great quote for young men and women. We all see people who are naturally talented in areas we may not be. Sometimes it seems unfair that some seem to gain success without working very hard. Your hard work will pay off every time!
