2ND of 12 RULES TO SAVE YOU GRIEF IN THE FACEBOOK AGE

You love Facebook and your smart phone but all this tech stuff has a lot that ticks you off.  From the chain e-mails, people texting when they are supposed to be visiting with you, the nasty things people say on facebook or text that they would never say.  Often with the "constantly being in touch" lifestyle, people have trouble remembering the important things such as kindness, respect and honesty.  Even the really nice people make mistakes and accidentally do a really stupid thing in the unforgiving world of technology.  There are rules that will save you from wanting to put a paper bag on your head and never touching a computer or cell phone again.
The second of twelve rules is listed below.

2.  I rarely talk on the phone anymore.  Are there times when email or text messages aren't ok?

Email and text messages are not the way to deal with emotional or sensitive things because it is so easy to misread someone's meaning or take a comment the wrong way.  It is also permanent.  You're writing words that can easily be forwarded or saved.  Instead, talk about problems on the phone or in person.  This is especially true if you're angry.  It is too simple to send a message telling the person exactly how you feel but you'll probably regret what you wrote later.  You shouldn't send little "catty" or judgmental remarks about friends or coworkers to others - you never know where those messages may end up, plus they aren't nice.
