ELKMONT JV BREAKS CLEMENTS COLTS

ELKMONT JV BREAKS CLEMENTS COLTS

Elkmont opened the game with a 40 yard kick-off return from Nolan Milan which was brought back for a holding penalty. Both teams moved the ball well in the first quarter but failed to score. The Colts had the ball deep in Devil territory when the quarter ended.

The Colts opened the second quarter with the ball on the Red Devils' own 15 yard line. Elkmont's Manuel Sanchez picked off a Colts' pass and returned it to all the way down to the 15 yard line. The offense took the next play and scored on a run by Mike Tucker; Sanchez's PAT was good and Elkmont led 7-0. The Colts were able to put a drive together and scored on a 10 yard pass with :33 to play before the half. The two point conversion was good; Clements led 8-7 at the half.

The third quarter started off on a bad note for the Red Devils when the Colts scored on a 75 yard touchdown run. The two point conversion was good. Clements now led 16-7. The Red Devils offense took the ball on their next possession and drove the ball down the field with ease, behind the hard-nosed running of Mike Tucker and Josh Ferrozes, punishing the Clements defense. Chase Renew scored on a 4 yard run. The PAT was no good. Elkmont now trailed by 3 at the end of the third quarter.

Elkmont would score two more times in the fourth. On fourth down and goal from their own 10 yard line, Bryant Wales connected with Manuel Sanchez on a touchdown pass and later on, Chase Renew would score on a 6 yard run. Clements would add one more score as well on a 30 yard touchdown pass.

Final score: Elkmont 26, Clements 22.

Observation:

I am really proud of the boys. They showed alot of heart and determination in this game. They never gave up and played hard from start to finish. This was certainly a team effort from the guys up-front to the backs to the coaching. Everyone did their part and this is what we have been waiting to see. I know you have it in you, guys and it definately showed. I have really enjoyed watching these boys throughout the years from the midget and pee-wee leagues till now. Keep working hard and believe in yourselves and good things will happen. We all believe in you.
