Name: Rosalind Lee Rice Porterfield Dates: Birth date: May 23, 1943 Death date: October 30, 2012 Obituary: Rosalind Lee Rice Porterfield, 69, of Elkmont died on October 30, 2012 at her home. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Decatur on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. The Reverend Evan D. Garner will officiate. Mrs. Porterfield was a native of Decatur and a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She attended Decatur High School, and Auburn University. She had a forty year career as a nurse in the North Alabama area, with her last years being with the Limestone Health Facility in Athens. She is survived by her husband, Reynold Porterfield; one daughter, Allyson Lee Porterfield of Athens; one son, Steven E. Porterfield of Huntsville; one brother, David P. Rice of Decatur. Honorary pallbearers will be, William C. Barnes, Bingham D. Edwards, Daniel Franklin, Tee Jackson, Trent Jackson and Sam Timberlake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “Peace, Love and Animals” animal shelter at 19135 Nuclear Plant Road Tanner, Alabama 35671.
