MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS GET FIRST BASKETBALL WIN

The West Limestone Middle School Tip Off Classic started yesterday.  The Elkmont Middle School teams opened with games against the East Limestone Indians.

The Lady Devils beat East Limestone.  The first quarter had the two teams tied with 10 points each.  The Lady Indians picked up the pace as Elkmont struggled to score.  East pulled ahead at half time with a score of 17 points to Elkmont's 12.  In the third quarter, we turned the tables on East and held them to 2 points as the Lady Devils picked up 8 more points to pull ahead 20 -19.  Elkmont's defense pinned East Limestone to the wall with a tough defense that held the Indians scoreless to take the win 27 -19.  Way to go, Ladies; great start to the season.

The Middle School Red Devils took the court next and played East Limestone tough in the first half, trailing the Indians by 3 points at the end of the second quarter (15 - 12).    East put on the afterburners in the third quarter and outscored Elkmont 23 - 4.  The Red Devils defense tightened up, only allowing the Indians to scored 5 points in the fourth quarter.  However, there was too much of a East Limestone lead for Elkmont to recover and the Indians won 43 - 22.
