BAILEE FLORIDA BOUND FOR NCAA II SOUTH REGION TOURNAMENT

NCAA_BBALL_SplashUPDATED

For the second straight season, the University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team will participate in the NCAA tournament as the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee announced the 64-team field for the national tournament on Sunday night. UAH will be the No. 7 seed in the South Region and face second-seeded Tuskegee on Friday, March 15.

The Lady Chargers earned the automatic berth of the Gulf South Conference after going on a three-game tear through the GSC tournament, and in doing so, the team earned a trip to Nova Southeastern who earned the top seed in the region.

Tuskegee fell in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament but still grabbed the second seed, and the match-up with UAH marks a rematch of an earlier contest as the Lady Chargers defeated Tuskegee by a 73-49 score in Huntsville at the start of the season.

Delta State – who UAH eliminated from the GSC tourney on Saturday – earns the third seed, while Lynn will be the No. 4 seed. Champions of the Sunshine State Conference, Rollins is the fifth seed, with North Alabama taking the sixth position. The No. 8 seed belongs to Clark Atlanta who won the SIAC tournament.

The Lady Chargers will face Tuskeege at 1:30 p.m. CDT on Friday at NSU.
