Home football games at Elkmont now come with a meal. The program offers the meals — free to those 18 and under — during Friday night home football games.
Football players, cheerleaders
and band members are served between 3:15 and 4:15 p.m. At 4:15, the
cafeteria is open to the public until 6 p.m. Meals cost
$4.50 for anyone older than 18.
Superintendent Thomas Sisk said the meals are open to any child 18 and under, regardless of what school they attend. “Whichever of the high schools have home games, even if they’re on the same night, the kitchens will be open.”
The program will not interfere with concessions. School teams and clubs sell concessions to raise funds to support their programs. “We do not want to compete with concessions,” Rogers said. “We stop serving food before the game starts, and we don’t serve the same kind of foods. We’re not doing hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs or anything else you’d find at a concession stand.”
