The Limestone County Voluntary Organization Active in Disaster will host an emergency preparedness event this month to increase public awareness about the importance of preparing for emergencies.
The
event, called Be Ready Athens-Limestone County, will include discussion
of the role local responders play in preventing and responding to
disasters, equipment demonstrations and a free lunch.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Limestone County Event Center on Pryor Street.
The
Limestone County Voluntary Organization Active in Disaster or LCVOAD is
a humanitarian organization comprised of independent organizations that
respond to disasters.
Its
purpose is to streamline the delivery of services to people affected by
disasters such as floods and tornadoes while eliminating unnecessary
duplication of relief efforts.
