ELKMONT CROSS COUNTRY TAKES SECOND

For over forty years Athens Bible School has hosted the Athens Bible Cross Country Invitational. It is the longest-running cross country invitational in the state and is a highlight of many high school schedules. Yesterday, October 19, this year's event had 37 teams with 736 runners competing at the Athens Sportsplex. The races were divided between Class 1A-3A and Class 4A-7A. The junior high race was at 4 p.m., the varsity girls race took place at 4:30 and the varsity boys at 5. Elkmont had teams in the varsity races.

Our boys' team had a strong performance to take second place.  Four of our young men finished their runs under 20 minutes. Congrads to Chase Prater, Brantley Hammock, Christian Smith and Alex Armstrong.

Our ladies also did well with Claudia Allen taking fifth place.  Best of luck in the Elkmont Invitational tomorrow.  Elkmont folks, try to come out and see our runners compete.  Community support makes a difference.
