Obituary:
Marvin Lester Wales age 90 of Elkmont, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Athens Limestone Hospital. Mr. Wales was born August 2, 1922 in Limestone County to Arthur Lester Wales and Sallie Mae Fielding Wales.
Services will be Thursday, July 11, 2013 3:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Warren Glass and David Cox officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
Mr. Wales was a member of Market Street Church of Christ. He served 27 years on the board at Limestone Farmers Co-op, was a United States Veteran of World War II and retired from the United States Postal Service.
Survived by his wife of 66 years, Kathleen B. Wales of Elkmont; daughter, Susan W. Gilbert and husband, Phil of Elkmont; two sons, Bill Wales and wife, Susan and John Walker Wales both of Athens; grandchildren, Allison Ruf and husband David, Alan Gilbert and wife, Bethany both of Athens, Ben Wales of Madison, Tom Wales of Auburn, Sam Wales of Athens; four great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Ruf, Avery Ruf, Molly Gilbert and Alyssa Gilbert.
Pallbearers will be Ben Wales, Sam Wales, Tom Wales, Alan Gilbert, David Ruf and Jimmy Wales. Honorary pallbearers will be Allison Ruf and Bethany Gilbert. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Birdie Thornton Center.
