Decatur Daily article on what develops a sports program. It also ranks the various schools on success for this year. Where does Elkmont rank?
HARTSELLE — When Hartselle High athletics director Johnny Berry describes the driving spirit behind the Tigers’ success, he recalls a T-shirt that read, “It’s not just a team, it’s a town.”
“That’s the way our kids buy into it,” he said. “Our kids buy into everything we do, we do for Hartselle. We don’t do it as an individual; we don’t do it as individual teams. Whenever we go anywhere, we represent Hartselle. That’s kind of a mantra for us. Our coaches support one another, and that’s not always the case at other places. When anybody wins, everybody here is happy.”
