REALLY? ANOTHER FLASH FLOOD WATCH

Flash Flood Watch

Flash Flood Watch in effect until 7:00 PM CDT. Source: U.S. National Weather Service

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF ALABAMA AND SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN ALABAMA...COLBERT...CULLMAN... DEKALB...FRANKLIN AL...JACKSON...LAUDERDALE...LAWRENCE... LIMESTONE...MADISON...MARSHALL AND MORGAN. IN SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE...FRANKLIN TN...LINCOLN AND MOORE.

* THROUGH THIS EVENING

* ANOTHER ROUND OF THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED TODAY AS AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKS EAST FROM THE SOUTHERN PLAINS. THUNDERSTORMS AND SHOWERS OVER MISSISSIPPI WILL MOVE NORTHEAST INTO NORTH ALABAMA AND SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE LATE THIS MORNING INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS. SOME AREAS WILL RECEIVE MULTIPLE PERIODS OF HEAVY DOWNPOURS FALLING ON ALREADY SATURATED SOILS. AS A RESULT, EXCESSIVE RUNOFF WILL OCCUR LEADING TO THE HIGHER POTENTIAL OF FLASH FLOODING. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES ARE LIKELY TODAY INTO THIS EVENING...WITH SOME AREAS RECEIVING EVEN MORE.

* POOR DRAINAGE AND LOW WATER CROSSING LOCATIONS WILL BE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLASH FLOOD PROBLEMS TODAY. THERE IS ALSO A RISK FOR CREEKS AND STREAMS IN THE REGION TO RISE TO BANKFULL OR TO FLOOD STAGE.
