WHAT OUR NEIGHBORS DO FOR US

The Elkmont Fire Department rolled out of the fire department around 5:30 pm.  A trailer fire was on Slate Road close to New Garden and our volunteers were there to help.  They had been out there the day before for a fire in a back room that had been added to it. Elkmont and Oak Grove was paged out with about 25 fire fighters responding.  They had to cut holes in the roof to help vent it.

After a few hours and overhaul it was out again; nobody was hurt.  Thanks to everybody that did
come or stop and brought cold water and Gatorade.  It's great how we support our community.  They do keep drinking water on trucks but there is no way to keep it cold.  With it being 92 outside and the guys in full turnout gear, they can get very hot real fast so the cold water was greatly appreciated.   Think of our fire fighters who come when called to help their neighbors and please be careful when you are burning something in the back 40.
