Highlights:
At the end of every day, whether after spending hours studying for final exams, keeping score for the softball team or undergoing radiation aimed at killing the disease assaulting her body, Leah Seibert’s family opens the Bible and prays.
“Usually
one verse will stick out to me each night. I think often about Job and
all the hardships he faced and how he came out a better person. I look
through the people in the Bible and remember, Hey, God got them through
it,” Seibert said.
For strength, Seibert looks to her community, church, friends and parents, Wade and Kay Loggins. The Loggins adopted Seibert after Kay Loggins’ sister and Seibert’s mother, Cathy Seibert, died from a massive heart attack. Seibert was 5 at the time.
Seibert’s resilient spirit, unbreakable optimism and unbounded faith transformed her school, church and 500-person Limestone County community.“She means everything to the school. I think people look at their situations a little differently because of her. She gives us a spirit of perseverance,” Elkmont High Principal Bill Tribble said. “Those things are what make Leah special. She gives the school pride, reminds us to make every moment of every day count and inspires everyone to work hard because if she can come straight from radiation to the softball field, then no one has an excuse.”
Facing each day with optimism and hope, Seibert does not let the disease define her. She is more than a cancer patient — she is a daughter, friend, teammate, encourager, cheerleader, club member, fighter, 4.14 GPA, lover of life, mentor and believer.

and daddy have been with me every step of the way. They are my rock."

“Leah’s
faith is something that is unbelievable,” said Curt Hollingsworth,
youth pastor at Seibert’s home church, Elkmont Church of Christ. “She
not only wants to strengthen her faith, she wants to help build the
faith in others.”
